During the 2020 pandemic, I reconnected with my love of art. I began sketching handmade cards for loved ones, then experimenting with acrylic paint. While completing one particular assignment in grad school my passion for art suddenly became intimately intertwined with my future master’s degree. I'm studying to be a therapist and, in my course, titled "The Treatment of Substance Use Disorders," I wrote a reflective paper on an addictive behavior I possess: perfectionism. Perfectionism is both a positive and negative behavior that navigates my life. Because I believe there are no mistakes in art, I have found both solace and almost treatment of my perfectionism through painting. Without the constraints of perfectionism, I find myself "letting go", relaxing into a creative flow. One summer night in my garage, a few neighbors saw me creating, and to my surprise, offered to purchase the pieces. I'm thankful to be an international seller and to have had the opportunity in 2021 to have my work highlighted at Hugo Rivera Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA. In 2022 I'm shooting for the moon with some other goals and anywhere I land will be a beautiful journey. Check out my latest projects on my Instagram @MollyMarieArt.co
